Retinal changes after fluocinolone acetonide implant (ILUVIEN ®) for DME: SD-OCT imaging assessment using ESASO classification
CONCLUSION: In persistent or recurrent DME, fluocinolone acetonide implantation can be effective in improving maculopathy stage and reducing the percentage of eyes with: intraretinal cysts; CFT > 30% above the upper normal value; and disrupted or absent EZ and/or ELM. It can also increase BCVA and reduce CFT.PMID:37475207 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231183471 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Eyewatch adjustable drainage device in vitrectomized eyes with refractory glaucoma
CONCLUSION: In conclusion, in our case series the use of eyeWatch adjustable system allows a safe and gradual regulation of the flow during post-operative management also in vitrectomized eyes. Considering the percentage of hypotony related complications in vitrectomized eyes this system is an effective and safe technique to handle glaucoma in post vitreoretinal surgery eyes.PMID:37437594 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231188153 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Changes in the uninjected contralateral eye after intravitreal brolucizumab for exudative age-related macular degeneration
CONCLUSIONS: Although contralateral retinal changes have been described for many other vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitors, there is little evidence for brolucizumab. We describe a repeated dose- and time-related effect on the uninjected eye in a case of nAMD.PMID:37424299 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231187429 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

The efficacy of different anti-vascular endothelial growth factor agents, and dexamethasone implant therapy in patients with serous retinal detachment caused by Irvine-Gass syndrome
CONCLUSION: All intravitreal agents were effective in terms of visual results in the SRD patients; however, eyes treated with IVA and IVDI required fewer injections, as compared to the eyes treated with IVB and IVR. Furthermore, SRD entirely resolved in all eyes in the IVA group at the final follow-up visit.PMID:37408434 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231185909 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Effect of Phacoemulsification on Intraocular Pressure in Eyes with Functioning Tube Shunts
CONCLUSION: Phacoemulsification in patients with functioning tubes did not change the mean IOP in most of the patients (86.2%); the number of medications also did not increase.PMID:37181616 | PMC:PMC10172799 | DOI:10.18502/jovr.v18i2.13180 (Source: Journal of Ophthalmic and Vision Research)

Comparison of postoperative visual performance between trifocal intraocular lens and monofocal intraocular lens
CONCLUSION: Compared to monofocal IOL, trifocal IOL could provide a full range of clear vision for the majority of patients with simple cataracts, improve the rate of spectacles independence and patient satisfaction. And the objective quality of vision did not show any difference.PMID:37182920 | DOI:10.15537/smj.2023.44.5.20220833 (Source: Saudi Medical Journal)
