Fear, isolation and the importance of support: A qualitative study of parents' experiences of feeding a child born with esophageal atresia
Feeding and swallowing difficulties in children are increasing due to improved survival rates of children with complex medical conditions. Despite being common complications of esophageal atresia (EA), EA related feeding difficulties have received little attention in research. Establishing positive feeding interactions and practices are important for child health and development, and for parental and child mental health. The current study aimed to investigate the parental experiences of feeding a child born with EA. (Source: Journal of Pediatric Nursing)

Advances in Complex Congenital Tracheoesophageal Anomalies
Esophageal atresia with or without tracheoesophageal fistula and tracheobronchomalacia encompass 2 of the most common complex congenital intrathoracic anomalies. Tailoring interventions to address the constellation of problems present in each patient is essential. Due to advances in neonatology, anesthesia, pulmonary, gastroenterology, nutrition and surgery care for patients with complex congenital tracheoesophageal disorders has improved dramatically. Treatment strategies tailored to the individual patient needs are best implimented under the aegis of a comprehensive longitudinal multidisciplinary care team. (Source: Clinics in Perinatology)

Esophageal Magnetic Anastomosis Device (EMAD) to simplify and improve outcome of thoracoscopic repair for esophageal atresia with tracheoesophageal fistula: A proof of concept study
CONCLUSION: The EMAD could simplify, shorten, and potentially improve the outcome of thoracoscopic repair for EA with TEF in the future. A high BS and a relative low PF following EMAD application may lower the risk of postoperative complications such as esophageal leakage and stricture formation.PMID:36307298 | DOI:10.1016/j.jpedsurg.2022.09.040 (Source: Hand Surgery)
