What are the top EEG Epilepsy programs in the country?
I am applying to EEG and Epilepsy 2 yr fellowship and I'm trying to gather unbiased ideas as to which programs in the country are the top ones. I know only a handful of places have MEG. I don't know if that is gonna be the future, but I would like to at least get familiar with it during my fellowship. I am highly leaning towards Cleveland Clinic and Michigan due to proximity to families. Other consideration include Yale and Mayo since I have very strong connections to both, but don't really... Clinical Research Coordinator Position at Boston Children's Hospital (Boston, MA)
Hi SDN! Longtime lurker on the forums, and posting this opportunity here (and non-trad, mods please delete if not OK) over the other premed boards, because this corner tends to draw a more reasonable and (imo) deserving crowd. I currently work on a clinical research team at Boston Children's Hospital focusing on rare pediatric neuroimmunological disorders - multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica, transverse myelitis, autoimmune encephalitis, epilepsy, and others. One of our longtime... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How to study for clinical neurophysiology boards
Sorry if this has been discussed before but I couldn't find an answer in my search: What recommendations/study plans do people recommend for the clinical neurophysiology boards? I'm starting my first job as an attending and time will be limited so I want to focus on 1-2 resources realistically. I've heard 'Clinical neurophysiology board review Q&A' is good so was planning on doing that twice. I was Epilepsy/EEG track so I know I need a lot of brushing up on NM. the shapiro book is daunting... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Does undergraduate publications matter?
Hello everyone, so in undergrad I was able to get 7-8 publications (as contributing author rather than first author) in neurology/epilepsy. I was wondering if currently I am interested in ortho and neurology, should I do research in ortho during medical school and if I decide to go with the neuro surgery path I can just use my undergrad pubs? EMG elective during Residency
I'm going into epilepsy fellowship. Would it be a good idea to spend as much time as possible in the EMG lab for my remaining elective blocks in residency so I can use that as a marketable skill for post-residency jobs, or would that amount of time not be sufficient to learn how to learn to do and interpret basic EMGs? Furthermore, would employers not value that experience since I will not be graduating from a neurophysiology fellowship? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Epilepsy, Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowships
I'm training in child neurology with interest in treating epilepsy in children and young adults (but open to any adult) in a non-academic job. 1) What exactly is the difference between epilepsy, clinical neurophysiology with EEG or epilepsy focus, and other such (adult + pediatric vs pediatric epilepsy, etc) fellowships? 2) What is the utility of this fellowship for private practice or non-academic, particularly if child neurology trained? i.e. job opportunities to read EEG remotely 3) Can... Thinking about neuromuscular fellowship, but asking for advise
Good evening Im thinking about doing neuromuscular fellowship, as I love the procedural part about it and the pathology it includes, howver I have been thinking beyond the diagnosis, interms of being able to help patients. My idea about the field in my 3 years of residency is that we do the diagnosis but we usually dont have the ability to offer much help for those patients. We either refer to pain medicine or surgery. Compared to other fields, for example epilepsy or MS, which each has... Thinking about neuromuscular fellowship, but asking for advise (Source: Student Doctor Network)

asking for advise regarding fellowship. Neurophysiology vs. neuromuscular vs. epilepsy
I'm interested in both EMGs and EEGs and in private practice settings. I'm confused about my decision about fellowship and I hope you guys can help me. What would be the difference in terms of EMG skills of someone who did neuromuscular fellowship vs. someone who did 6 months of EMG / EEG split fellowship? that goes also for someone who did epilepsy fellowship for a year vs. 6 months of EEG /EMG. Which one of them will help me to get better reimbursement? Thank you (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Taking Pre-Med Classes at a Community College
Good day everyone, I recently graduated college with a degree in neuroscience with a 3.73 GPA. I am interested in medicine but did not take the proper classes during undergrad due to the my lateness in my realization and my focus on research. I am currently working full time as a tech in an epilepsy lab for about two years and in that time I would like to knockout all of my pre reqs. Would taking classes at a community college and doing well in them hinder my medical school application... Taking Pre-Med Classes at a Community College (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Alcohol and Seizures?
Hello, I'm a nursing student here. Ok so I have been doing some research on epilepsy for a presentation in class. On of the subtopics is seizures in relation to alcohol. I have been asking this question as well as trying to search this question and cannot get any solid answer. Every answer is different and everyone claims their answer is correct. The question is, is it possible for someone to have a seizure while drinking alcohol? I am NOT referring to withdrawal because everyone immediately... Alcohol and Seizures?
