Double trouble in DMEK surgery: Learning experience and review of the literature
CONCLUSION: Early recognition and prompt management of intraoperative aqueous misdirection syndrome and anterior chamber fibrin reaction during DMEK surgery is essential to ensure good functional and anatomical outcomes.PMID:38387873 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241228346 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Statistical analysis plan for the phaco TIp position during clear corneal Phacoemulsification Surgery (TIPS) randomized controlled trial
Cornea is the most important refractive media in the eye, and damage to the corneal endothelium is one of the most common causes of poor visual outcome following cataract surgery, particularly in those with pr... (Source: Trials)

Surgical Outcomes in Uveitic Glaucoma: Long-Term Evaluation of Trabeculectomy, Non-Penetrating Deep Sclerectomy, Ex-PRESS Shunt and Ahmed Glaucoma Valve. A 3-Year Follow-Up Study
CONCLUSION: Various filtering surgeries are safe and effective procedures for lowering IOP and reducing the requirement of topical antihypertensives in UG at 36 months. However, one-third of the patients will require another IOP-lowering procedure.PMID:38381450 | DOI:10.1080/09273948.2024.2315194 (Source: Ocular Immunology and Inflammation)

Incidence of and risk factors for suspected and definitive glaucoma after bilateral congenital cataract surgery: a 5-year follow-up
Conclusions Identifying suspected and definitive glaucoma after bilateral CC surgery can lower the risk of secondary blindness in children. Patients with related risk factors need to pay more attention and thus reach early intervention and treatment during clinical practice. Primary IOL implantation may be a potential protective factor, need more clinical trials to be verified. Trial registration number NCT04342052. (Source: British Journal of Ophthalmology)

Long-term visual acuity outcomes following cataract surgery in eyes with ocular inflammatory disease
Conclusions Our results suggest that adult and paediatric eyes with uveitis typically have improved VA following cataract surgery and remain stable thereafter for at least 5 years. (Source: British Journal of Ophthalmology)

Successful resolution of serous macular detachment following glaucoma-filtering surgery alone for acquired optic disc pit maculopathy
CONCLUSION: This case demonstrates that controlling intraocular pressure alone resulted in complete resolution of serous macular detachment in acquired optic disc pit maculopathy without the need for pars plana vitrectomy.PMID:38377952 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241234402 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Comparison of keratometric values and anterior segment parameters measured using Scheimpflug Sirius topography and Lenstar biometry
ConclusionSignificant differences were observed between Lenstar and Sirius in terms of keratometric values, WTW distance, and IOL power. The IOL power value measured with Sirius was found to be higher than the IOL power value measured with Lenstar. (Source: International Ophthalmology)

Cataract surgery with new monofocal intraocular lens enhanced for intermediate vision and standard monofocal intraocular lens for retinal disorder
ConclusionEven in patients with cataract accompanied by retinal disease, the use of the ICB00 IOL showed significant improvement in intermediate vision compared to the use of the AAB00 (standard monofocal) IOL. The ICB00 IOL might be a good option for patients with cataract and retinal disease in the era of increased intermediate vision needs in daily life. (Source: International Ophthalmology)

Using genetics to investigate the association between lanosterol and cataract
Conclusion: There was no evidence observed for genetic associations between lanosterol and cataract risk. Our results do not support lanosterol’s potential role in treating cataracts. Further research may be needed to address the effect of lanosterol on specific cataract subtypes. (Source: Frontiers in Genetics)

Epiretinal membrane development after Ex-Press glaucoma filtration device implant: 2-year results of a case control study
ConclusionEx-Press implant may increase the ERM incidence regardless concomitant cataract surgery, accelerating or inducing a posterior vitreous detachment, such as other ocular surgical procedure. Nevertheless, the vast majority of ERM are CMR, not affecting the macular profile. (Source: International Ophthalmology)
