An Unusual Case Report of a Foreign Body (Fish Bone) in the Trachea
AbstractTracheobronchial foreign body aspiration is a rare yet potentially life-threatening occurrence in adults, presenting with symptoms ranging from acute asphyxiation to coughing, breathlessness, or choking. These symptoms can be inconsistent and mimic chronic lung conditions like asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Chest X-rays and computed tomography scans are valuable for diagnosing and locating the foreign body. However, bronchoscopy is the primary method for diagnosis and management. This case study describes a unique incident involving a fish bone lodged in the mid-trachea, emphasizing the critical i...

Retrospective Study of Bronchoscopic Intervention Therapy for Bronchopleural Fistula Induced by Pulmonary Surgery
Background and objective As a new technique developed in recent years, bronchoscopic intervention therapy has the advantages of minimal invasion, high safety and repeatability. The aim of this study is to investigate the clinical characteristics of bronchopleural fistula (BPF) induced by surgeries for lung malignancies or benign diseases and the effect of bronchoscopic intervention therapy for BPF, so as to provide support for prevention and treatment of BPF. Methods Data 64 patients with BPF who were treated by bronchoscopic intervention in Respiratory Disease Center of Dongzhimen Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese M...

A case of surgical treatment for bronchial foreign bodies with obstructive pneumonia
Herein, we present a case of a foreign body in the airway of an older adult that could not be removed using bronchoscopy and required surgery. AbstractChildren and older adults are prone to unintentional foreign body aspiration. A 69-year-old man with fever and anorexia presented with obstructive pneumonia resulting from foreign body aspiration. Attempts to remove the foreign body using a bronchoscope failed due to its adhesion to the periphery of the bronchus. Although antibiotic therapy did not improve the obstructive pneumonia caused by the bronchial foreign body, surgery enabled an improvement. The surgical specimen sh...
