3D Virtual Bronchoscopy as an Aid to Airway Management in a Patient with Anterior Mediastinal Mass
We report a case of a 66-year-old male with severe dyspnea, having a very large invasive anterior mediastinal mass, causing left lung collapse for urgent debulking surgery. The tracheobronchial compromise was ruled out using three-dimensional reconstruction on computed tomography imaging (virtual bronchoscopy) and that helped in using general anesthesia with muscle relaxation for subsequent endotracheal intubation and surgery.PMID:38607882 | DOI:10.4103/aca.aca_133_23 (Source: Annals of Cardiac Anaesthesia)

A novel combined approach to placement of a double lumen endobronchial tube using a video laryngoscope and fiberoptic bronchoscope: a retrospective chart review
The objective of this study was to evaluate a modern combined video laryngoscopy and flexible fiberoptic bronchoscope approach to placement of a double lumen endobronchial tube and further characterize potenti... (Source: BMC Anesthesiology)

Vasculitis that did not read the books
A 29-year-old woman presented to our rheumatology clinic with a 6-month history of cough, dysphonia, dyspnoea and weight loss. She also complained of a lump in her throat (globus pharyngeus), left otalgia and hearing loss. One month before evaluation, she started experiencing blood-tinged sputum and dyspnoea. On clinical examination, the patient had nasal discharge, crusting and congestion, laryngeal oedema, stridor, tympanic membrane retraction and external auditory canal ecchymosis. Laboratory findings showed anaemia (haemoglobin: 75.4 g/L, normal: 122.0–181.9), lymphocytosis 4.63x109/L (normal: 0.60x109–3.4x...

Anaplastic lymphoma kinase-positive pulmonary inflammatory myofibroblastic tumour: a case report
ConclusionsAchieving long-term local control in pulmonary IMT can be challenging. Multimodality treatment is sometimes needed but the overall outlook remains good. (Source: Journal of Medical Case Reports)

Induction of lung lesions by bronchial administration using bronchoscope technique in mice
This study aimed to establish an exposure method that can induce homogeneous lesions with minimal inter-individual variability. The distribution of lesions induced by bleomycin (BLM) administration was also analyzed. C57BL mice were intrabronchially administered 20 µL of BLM (3 mg/mL) using a bronchoscope in the left or right bronchus. The mice were sacrificed 14 days after administration, and their lungs were evaluated histopathologically. BLM-induced inflammatory lesions were widely observed in the lungs. In the left bronchus-treated group, lesions were uniformly observed throughout the lobe, and no individual differenc...
