Tablets and Pinball and The HealthSystem.
Amigos. I just spent a whole two hours playing pinball on my tablet. The gin helps, especially after an awful nightshift. When I say "awful", I don't mean that I told a mom that "she has cancer", or told a husband that "his wife was not coming back" That's like, Tuesday. This nightshift was 2 patients a hour of "my baby just came back from her daddy place, and she look sick" ... or ... "Grandma woke up earlier than normal to take a pee." All night long, it was *bull$hitasaurus*... Tablets and Pinball and The HealthSystem. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Most popular anesthesia books in 2019.
What’s up? Anyone remember me? Lmao. Anyway, been out in private practice for ten years and wanna know what books are most popular in residency these days. I should read a little more. Used to be Baby Miller and Morgan and Mikhail. Anything else become as popular? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

For those needing a laugh
My fiance decided to write a satirical personal statement (she is not applying to medical school). I thought it was gold and wanted to post it here for others to have a good lol. The application season is stressful and hopefully her sense of humor will brighten someones day. I'm a lucky guy. For those who don't speak Swahili, a "kanga" is a piece of fabric often worn as clothing or to carry babies, and "konyagi" is a local hard liquor. Enjoy! I felt the amniotic fluid splash against my... For those needing a laugh (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hey guys! I applied to vet school for the cycle of 2023 and got in, chose Penn Vet <3 but then decided to defer for a year! So, I'll be joining the class of 2024 for all you future Penn babies! Basically, if you guys have any questions or just wanna be friends feel free to just talk in this chat! P.S. I am NOWHERE near a surgeon, I just WANT to be a surgeon haha (but I figured I might as well start putting my dreams out into the universe so that they manifest lol) (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Fatherhood and clinical rotations: how did you do it?
My wife and I are expecting a baby girl later this fall and I'd like to know how to balance being successful on my 3rd and 4th yr rotations and giving my wife and newborn quality time, as well as any other advice you might be willing to share. I had a pretty crappy father and thus want to give my daughter a better life(being present more so than financially) growing up than what I had. Thank you. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Toddler Sedation on an Airplane
If any of you have flown with a 12-24 months old toddler, you will know that that can be the most difficult form of flying. While babies will sleep and be soothed by warm milk, and 2 year olds can be entertained by screens and movies, the group in between those ages, 12-24 month old toddlers, are a real challenge. They are curious and mobile with short attention spans. Screen time has no hold over them. They will push and kick their way out of baby carriers and cry and scream if restrained... Which specialty has the most annoying patients?
For me its OBGyn. I get the feeling many of these women see their pregnancy and baby as their saving grace from mediocrity.. the world is overpopulated as it is but she thinks she is the next New York socialite throwing baby showers and waddling around with her hand on her belly. Annoying! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Si rfa
I have a 33 year old patient 6 months post delivery with classic SI joint pain. Has been trying PT when she can-new baby. Gave SI belt to use prn. She does use when she remembers. Doesn’t want po meds. Did SI joint injection with good relief-75% however short term about 3 weeks. Thinking next step would be SI RFA, however imo not “slam dunk” like cervical or lumbar RFA. Would you repeat SI joint injection (knowing short term benefit) or go for RFA as the next step? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Having a Baby during Medical School
I've done quite a bit of research on when's the best time to have a baby in your medical training and the most common responses are; first and second year; not during third year; fourth year; not during intern year; after intern year; after residency. I'm going to be an incoming student (Class of 2023, woohoo!) and would like to deliver during summer between first and second year because of all the flexibility offered during this time in my training. Any thought, comments, questions... Having a Baby during Medical School (Source: Student Doctor Network)
