Biggest bunch of cry-babies
I’m getting demoralized by the whining among my co-residents. It’s recruitment season and I’m thinking I’ll start just telling the applicants “If you don’t want to work hard, you shouldn’t come here.” Because that will at least filter out some of the whiners. And I know I’m no better, as someone whining about whiners, but let me just have this poll as an empty vent, will you?. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

RSV Vaccine
Strong RSV vaccine data lifts hopes after years of futility New research shows vaccinating pregnant women helped protect their newborns from the common but scary respiratory virus called RSV that fills hospitals with wheezing babies each fall. apnews.com Interesting news. An effective RSV vaccine after so many years. One has to wonder 1) how this will change seasonal viral patterns and 2) if ever there will be vaccine fatigue. The latter maybe won’t happen but I do wonder if people are going to continually sign up for multiple booster shots for v...

White noise machines?
Are you guys aware of literature on these? I tried to look but couldn’t find much. Are they recommended for infants/babies? I see they are very popular these days but worry about the child becoming reliant on them or effects on ear development if they’re on all night. Any thoughts on these? Thx (Source: Student Doctor Network)

[Rant] 3D ultrasound is the stupidest technological “advancement” of the 21st century
I swear, if another patient comes in to triage asking for a 3D ultrasound to check on the baby I’m going to flip the portable ultrasound cart. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

29 Year Old Parent Considering Medical School
Hi everyone! I will try and make this as short (yet as detailed) as possible. Background about me: Basically, I am a non-traditional student. I am 29 years old (turning 30 in October). Also had my first baby in February 2020 (He is about 2.5 years old now). I was working in banks for about 5 years, so Finance made the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
