Gen Peds vs. Psych/Child and Adolescent Psych....indecision and angst!
This is a novel, sorry. I have been trying to choose between Peds and Psych since...December or January? Now I'm 38 weeks pregnant and tired and emotional and I really need to choose soon to get those letters of reference and my personal statement and everything going for the Match!! Currently finishing up a peds psych rotation and I don't have time to rotate in more specialties prior to August/September bc this baby is coming in 2 weeks. Step 1 254, Step 2 268. Fairly competitive. I did a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Reapply or Caribbean?
Hey everyone, Thanks for any advice presented in response to my question. Background: First generation college student from a medically underserved and rural area and a disadvantaged family. Non-traditional 28 year old male, married with two kids born during undergrad between 2019-2021. (Yes, I had a COVID baby). Started college in high school in 2010 and did poorly early on before quitting until 2018. Did really well in undergrad until the semester after my 1st kid was born when I... Peds rotation interesting issue
My attending does too much baby talk, it is kind of annoying. Sometimes it even blends when she is baby talking to the child and then goes to talk to the parent... Should I say anything about this? My initial thought is of course no. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Auld Lang Syne
Should auld acquaintance be forgot And never brought to mind? Should auld acquaintance be forgot And days of auld lang syne? Holding a glass up for: My sister Susan, my first baby sitter, who passed in December My brother Marc, my first playmate, who passed in January My childhood friend Diane, who passed in October My friend, Dr Tara, one of the reasons I am involved so heavily with nontrads, who passed in May at far, far too young an age And for those in years passed Paul, the... Research-focused "organization" tools and strategies
Hi all, So, it is that time of year when I decide things have become too chaotic and it is time to make a concerted effort to "get my work life organized" in the next year. Can't say its actually worked at any point, but I like to make the effort. Feeling it particularly acutely this year with a recent move, a growing lab, some larger funding coming in for new/complex projects and a new baby at home. Usually end up trying 30 things and maybe 1 or 2 stick, but thought it might be... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Being a mom during med school & residency
Hi! I just want to get a feel of how difficult is the med school and residency. I guess what Im trying to find out is: β€œis it possible to go through med school and residency with kid?” I have 5 month old baby right now and will probably apply for next next cycle. Of course Im just talking in the best case scenario - getting into med school on same cycle. If I do, my baby will be around 2-3yrs old. By the time Im done with school, she will be 6-7yrs old. And end of residency, she will be... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
