Any advice on how to get interested in medicine?
Hey everyone, I'm a M2 and I'm not a great student (-0.250 SD below class average). My bad grades are probably due to poor studying as well as low intelligence. On top of this, I hated medical school from day 1. I decided to stick it out and "toughen up," but I'm still really not feeling it. I feel I'm not cut out to be a physician. I don't like the studying, the testing, the pre-traumatic stress disorder from STEP-1 (wah wah, I'm a big baby, I know), the clinical skills, or the... Retraining programs for General Dentist
I am a general dentist graduated in 2015. I was practicing dentistry in a dental chain for two years before I started my maternity leave. Due to personal and family issues, I've been a stay home mom with my baby for 6 months now. I am not sure when I will be able to return to work. I thought about going back and work part time when my baby turns 1 year old; however, my husband and I don't have any family around the area and if possible I would like to stay at home with him longer. I don't... Retraining programs for General Dentist (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Jobs for pre-meds dealing with new borns or labor and delivery in general?
Hello Everyone, I'm an undergraduate student interested in medicine. Recently, I've been very interested in the field of OBGYN. I LOVE being around mothers and babies in a clinical setting - so I was trying to find a job in a NICU or related area, but haven't had too much luck as they all seem to be RN or physician postions. I was wondering if anyone knew of a job I could look for that dealt with new born babies or something along those lines? This would be so amazing! Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)

FIU vs DREXEL
FIU Pros: -Great Step 1 scores -Prosected labs (I see this as a plus b/c it seems like a big time saver and a more efficient way to study) -Beautiful campus and facilities and I mean it's MIAMI c'mon! -Affiliated hospitals aren't too far -Overall I had a great feeling from the campus and the students Cons: -Out of state tuition -Regular grading system (doesn't bug me that much - to the best of my knowledge it seems like residency programs care more about step 1) -People say traffic/... Student interested in premed with disability
Hello, I'm a 20 yr old college student who is interested in getting into the medical field. I have a huge interest in psychiatry, pediatrics, and cardiology. I need to do a lot of shadowing and getting as much experience as possible. However, I have never lost my startle reflex as a baby. So I jump easily to fast, sudden movements and certain noises. I'm not sure if this will affect my future career. My jumping is subtle but enough for people to notice, and I assume that I'd never be able to... Federal AND private personal loans to support family?
Hi everyone, I have recently been accepted to the school of my choice, but now I’m trying to figure out how to pay for my tuition and expenses. Briefly, my situation is that my wife is expecting a baby soon, and I would like to secure enough loan money to support them throughout school without her having to work. I filled out fafsa, but my concern is that the total loan money I expect to be allotted will not be enough to cover all of our expenses (food, rent, diapers, etc.). I looked into... Trying for a baby at the end of intern year?
I'm a 4th year medical student applying into OBGYN getting married at the end of 4th year to a now-1st year law student. If I match in the city where he is, we'd like to have a baby at the end of my intern year (summer or start of his third year). His schedule as a third year law student will be more forgiving than his schedule the first couple years in his practice, and we have family in the area. Has anyone who's done this able to comment on the feasibility of being pregnant as an intern... Trying for a baby at the end of intern year? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

PT Vs. Nursing
I am a 30 year old mom of two, almost three, little ones at a fork in the road for my career and would love to get some perspective from experienced PTs to help with my decision. A bit about me and how I got to where I am now - I got my BS in Psych, have worked in Psychological and Psychiatric research for about 5 years. After my first two babies I started a business as a certified birth doula and certified personal trainer teaching mother/baby fitness classes. After a couple of years I... PT Vs. Baby Miller 6th vs 7th Editions
MS3 here. Doing my first elective in anesthesia and really enjoying it so far. As I'm thinking about away rotations and learning more about anesthesia in general, does anyone have insights as to whether the 7th edition of Baby Miller is worth getting? Or if the 6th is enough? Thanks. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Buprenorphine: A Reality Check
The following excellent two article series published in 2013 give an in-depth view of the drug culture using Suboxone/buprenorphine, along with a history of the development of the drug. It is an eye opening account that shows the drug is approximately 1/6 as deadly as methadone, and that the death rate is not zero from buprenorphine. Of those dying from buprenorphine, approximately half have other drugs on board, 20% are suicides, and 15% are NAS babies.... Buprenorphine: A Reality Check (Source: Student Doctor Network)
