Follow 3 hours ago 3h ago Another thing I would emphasise is that getting into medicine is not just a decision about your degree but a decision about your life. Medical school is simply the first rug of the ladder - the learning curve is very steep right up to consultant level (some 6-10 years after graduating!) and there is a lot of sacrifices to be made - this can be some or many depending on what area you want to end up in. You will have to travel a lot for work, move jobs every 4-6 months for a lot of your junior years and training places are competitive at all levels. This is on top of the hours, audits, research, teaching etc. to supplement your portfolio to give you the edge over someone else. Not to mention the actual things you will see in the role itself.
