Does addition of aromatherapy and music help to reduce pain and anxiety during shockwave lithotripsy compared to standard analgesia alone? A randomised controlled trial
ConclusionsOur study was unable to show a significant improvement in pain relief and anxiety when aromatherapy with lavender oil was added to standard analgesia alone during shockwave lithotripsy. There was also no difference when aromatherapy was combined with music. (Source: International Urology and Nephrology)

IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 6262: Changes in Salivary Oxytocin Level of Term Pregnant Women after Aromatherapy Footbath for Spontaneous Labor Onset: A Non-Randomized Experimental Study
Conclusions: The changes in the oxytocin levels in the clary sage and lavender group did not differ significantly with those in the control group, possibly because of the small sample size. Further studies are required to examine the effects of repeated aromatherapy footbaths to stimulate labor. (Source: International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health)

Anti-arthritic effects of geranium essential oil loaded chitosan nanoparticles in Freund ’s complete adjuvant induced arthritic rats through down-regulation of inflammatory cytokines
AbstractGeranium essential oil (GEO) has been widely used in aromatherapy and traditional medicines. Nanoencapsulation, a novel technique has emerged to overcome the environmental degradation and less oral bioavailability of essential oils. This work was undertaken to encapsulate geranium essential oil in chitosan nanoparticles (GEO-CNPs) by ionic gelation technique and to explore anti-arthritic and anti-inflammatory potential in FCA-induced arthritic model in rats. The GEO was characterized by gas chromatography flame ionization detector (GCFID) and the nanosuspension was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectr...

Sensors, Vol. 23, Pages 4026: Study on the Psychological States of Olfactory Stimuli Using Electroencephalography and Heart Rate Variability
In this study, we propose a method of using two biological indexes, electroencephalogram (EEG) and heart rate variability (HRV), to evaluate human psychological states during the inhalation of aroma. The purpose is to investigate the relationship between biological indexes and the psychological effect of aromas. First, we conducted an aroma presentation experiment using seven different olfactory stimuli while collecting data from EEG and pulse sensors. Next, we extracted the EEG and HRV indexes from the experimental data and analyzed them with respect to the olfactory stimuli. Our study found that olfactory stimuli have a ...
