Potential anti-gouty arthritis of Citronella essential oil and Nutmeg essential oil through reducing oxidative stress and inhibiting PI3K/Akt/mTOR activation-induced NLRP3 activity
This study aimed to investigate whether Citronella essential oil and Nutmeg essential oil (NEO) can ameliorate monosodium urate (MSU)-induced gouty arthritis in rats and the potential mechanisms. The results showed that CEO and NEO reduced swelling and redness at joint sites, inhibited neutrophil infiltration, and limited proinflammatory mediator secretion in mice with MSU-induced gouty arthritis. Based on the results of network pharmacology, molecular docking, and western blotting, CEO and NEO may exert anti-gouty arthritis effects by reducing the expression of reactive oxygen species and oxidative stress and downregulati...

Effects of aromatherapy on nausea and vomiting in patients with cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
CONCLUSION: Our findings underscore aromatherapy's value in managing cancer treatment-associated nausea and vomiting. Conclusive evidence on aromatherapy-led nausea reduction is lacking due to limited RCTs; research is warranted for robust conclusions.PMID:38330531 | DOI:10.1016/j.ctcp.2024.101838 (Source: Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice)

Comparison of the Effects of Aromatherapy With Damask Rose and Chamomile Essential Oil on Preoperative Pain and Anxiety in Emergency Orthopedic Surgery: A Randomized Controlled Trial
CONCLUSIONS: The use of damask rose and chamomile in aromatherapy was found to effectively lower anxiety and pain levels in emergency orthopedic surgery patients. The antianxiety effect of damask rose is faster than chamomile.PMID:38300194 | DOI:10.1016/j.jopan.2023.10.021 (Source: Journal of Perianesthesia Nursing)

Use of Aromatherapy to Reduce Symptom Burden in Patients Receiving Stem Cell Transplantation
Chemo-induced nausea, vomiting, and retching (1) and anxiety (2) are distressing symptoms that are challenging for nurses to effectively manage. Symptoms experienced by patients receiving hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) exceed that of the general oncology population due to high chemotherapy doses and prolonged hospitalization. Inhaled aromatherapy has evidence of efficacy decreasing symptom burden in oncology (3,4); however, there is limited understanding of efficacy in patients receiving HSCT. Molecules, Vol. 29, Pages 145: Investigation of Volatile Components and Assessment of Antioxidant Potential in Seven Lamiaceae Plant Hydrosols
nlong Zhang Aromatic plants of the family Lamiaceae, especially of the genus Thymus, have promising antioxidant applications in pharmacology, medicine, food, cosmetology, and aromatherapy. Hydrosols (HDs) were extracted by hydrodistillation from seven species of Lamiaceae, including Thymus vulgaris, Thymus mongolicus, Mentha × piperita, Melissa officinalis, Rosmarinus officinali, Salvia elegans, and Leonurus artemisia. In total, 369 volatile components were determined and analyzed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Among them, alcohols (2.86–28.48%), ethers (2.46&...
