Urotensin II receptor deficiency ameliorates ligation-induced carotid intimal hyperplasia partially through the RhoA-YAP1 pathway
Biochim Biophys Acta Mol Basis Dis. 2024 Apr 15;1870(5):167170. doi: 10.1016/j.bbadis.2024.167170. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIntimal hyperplasia (IH) is a common pathological feature of vascular proliferative diseases, such as atherosclerosis and restenosis after angioplasty. Urotensin II (UII) and its receptor (UTR) are widely expressed in cardiovascular tissues. However, it remains unclear whether the UII/UTR system is involved in IH. Right unilateral common carotid artery ligation was performed and maintained for 21 days to induce IH in UTR knockout (UTR-/-) and wild-type (WT) mice. Histological analysis revealed th...

A randomised multicentre study of angiography- versus physiologyguided percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with coronary artery disease undergoing TAVI: design and rationale of the FAITAVI trial
EuroIntervention. 2024 Apr 15;20(8):e504-e510. doi: 10.4244/EIJ-D-23-00679.ABSTRACTThe treatment of coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients with severe aortic valve stenosis (AVS) eligible for transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is not supported by clinical evidence, and the role of physiology over anatomy as well as the timing of coronary intervention are not defined. FAITAVI (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT03360591) is a nationwide prospective, open-label, multicentre, randomised controlled study comparing the angiography-guided versus the physiology-guided coronary revascularisation strategy in patients with combin...

Usefulness of non-slip element percutaneous transluminal angioplasty scoring balloons in treating severe calcified lesions of the carotid artery for carotid artery stenting: A case report
CONCLUSION: This is the first report to describe the use of this scoring balloon in de novo carotid artery disease. NSE PTA scoring balloon catheters can be a useful option for refractory, highly calcified stenosis.PMID:38628518 | PMC:PMC11021079 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_923_2023 (Source: Surgical Neurology International)

A technique for reconstruction of a giant extracranial internal carotid artery aneurysm: A technical note
CONCLUSION: The selection of a strategy based on intraoperative findings and low-power bipolar cutting is important for the treatment of extracranial carotid artery aneurysms to preserve cranial nerves.PMID:38628507 | PMC:PMC11021075 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_11_2024 (Source: Surgical Neurology International)
