Abdominoplasties and Suppurative Hydradenitis (Acne inversa) in Patients after Massive Weight Loss
Zentralbl Chir. 2023 Jul 20. doi: 10.1055/a-2109-3015. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPost-bariatric surgical procedures in patients after massive weight loss (MWL) are often associated with elevated minor and major complications (17-55%). If there is additionally a long history of hydradenitis suppurativa (HS) in the lower abdomen and groin area, complications of infection can appear in all patients. Differentiated pre-, peri- and postoperative therapy regime is then indicated. From 2010 to 2021, a total of 12 (66.6% women, 33.3% men) consecutive patients underwent conventional (Pittsburg rating scale [PRS]: Grade 2) or fle...

Postbariatric Abdominoplasty: A Comparative Study on Scarpa Fascia Preservation Versus Classical Technique
ConclusionsAbdominoplasty with Scarpa Fascia preservation improves recovery by reducing drain output, allowing earlier drain removal and reducing long periods with suction drains. It also reduces hospital stay and seroma incidence. This technique modifies the high-risk postbariatric patient in such a major way that he behaves like a nonbariatric.Level of Evidence IIThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Panniculectomy as a surgical option for the management of a deep surgical site infection after C-section in a morbidly obese woman: a case report
CONCLUSION: Post-Caesarean deep SSI is a frequent complication in obese patients. A panniculectomy may be a safe and promising therapeutic surgical option with good cosmetic results and little postoperative complications when used in a multidisciplinary anti-obesogenic approach.PMID:37277871 | DOI:10.1186/s13037-023-00363-y (Source: Patient Safety in Surgery)

Radiographic evidence of neo-vascularization of the lower abdominal soft tissues in patients after abdominoplasty and previous abdominal free flap breast reconstruction
ConclusionsThis anatomic study demonstrates that the vascular patterns of the abdominal wall significantly differ  after abdominal wall excision. Prominent superior vasculature was observed in all postoperative cases after Ab-R, whereas Ab- FF presented more often with prominent recanalization of inferior vessels. These findings enrich the understanding of the vascular response to Ab-R and Ab-FF and highligh t areas for future investigation on the possibility of performing Ab-FF after Ab-R.Level of evidence: Level III, risk/prognostic study (Source: European Journal of Plastic Surgery)
