Do Small Scars Lead to Better Results? Analysis of Long-term Outcomes and Satisfaction of Patients Undergoing Anchor-line Abdominoplasty Following Massive Weight Loss
ConclusionDespite its long scars, the anchor-line pattern shows an overall higher satisfaction, due to the possibility of reducing the abdomen both cranio-caudally and circumferentially. These findings might be an important guide when approaching abdominoplasty in post-bariatric patients, debunking the myth “shorter is better”.Level of Evidence VThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Obesity as a Risk Factor in Cosmetic Abdominal Body Contouring: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
ConclusionsThis review demonstrates obesity increased odds of postoperative complications following cosmetic abdominal BC. However, risk of complications does not continue to increase with higher obesity class. A BMI  ≥ 30 kg/m2 should not be a strict contraindication to cosmetic abdominal BC. Instead, plastic surgeons should evaluate patients on a case-by-case basis.Level of Evidence IIIThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Interplay of Oblique Flankplasty with Vertical Medial Thighplasty
After 25 years ’ experience, the authors present the senior author’s current integration of lower body lift with vertical medial thighplasty. Mostly, oblique flankplasty with lipoabdominoplasty (OFLA) has replaced the traditional transverse posterior lower body lift and abdominoplasty due to improved esthetics and lower rate of complications. OFLA proceeds either immediately or as a first stage to the medially based reduction of thighs. L-vertical medial thighplasty, facilitated by excision site liposuction and scalpel assisted skin avulsion, is our preferred complimentary operation for predictable resul ts and low rat...

Maximizing the TULUA Abdominoplasty with Oblique Flankplasty
TULUA is an effective non-undermined lipoabdominoplasty with a low transverse wide plication of the rectus fascia that allows aggressive liposuction. For an esthetic 360 ° torso reshaping, oblique flankplasty, also without undermining, is added to correct sagging flanks, raise the lateral buttocks and thighs, and transversely tighten the abdomen. The indications, limitations, technique, and postoperative care are presented. (Source: Clinics in Plastic Surgery)

Abdominoplasties and Suppurative Hydradenitis (Acne inversa) in Patients after Massive Weight Loss
Zentralbl Chir. 2023 Jul 20. doi: 10.1055/a-2109-3015. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPost-bariatric surgical procedures in patients after massive weight loss (MWL) are often associated with elevated minor and major complications (17-55%). If there is additionally a long history of hydradenitis suppurativa (HS) in the lower abdomen and groin area, complications of infection can appear in all patients. Differentiated pre-, peri- and postoperative therapy regime is then indicated. From 2010 to 2021, a total of 12 (66.6% women, 33.3% men) consecutive patients underwent conventional (Pittsburg rating scale [PRS]: Grade 2) or fle...
