415 Antenatal diagnosis and management of the abdominal wall defects related to the umbilical ring. Case series and review of the literature

Introduction: The two most common defects related to the umbilical ring are gastroschisis and omphalocele. Both with a prevalence of about 3/10,000 births. Prenatal ultrasound has a high sensitivity already at the first-trimester prenatal scan. Lately gastroschisis received more attention due to increased incidence, advances in perinatal diagnosis as well as surgical treatment. Omphalocele, unlike gastroschisis, is associated with increased mortality. It is often accompanied by chromosomal aberrations (30%), birth defects of the heart, kidneys, CNS, and gastrointestinal tract.
