Changes in suicide mortality of Hungary during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic
CONCLUSION: After the outbreak of the epidemic, Hungarian males committed significantly more suicides, while no relevant changes were observed among females. Interestingly, studies from other countries found either no change or decrease when comparing suicide numbers from the COVID-19 period with the corresponding numbers from the pre-COVID-19 period. The explanation for this discrepancy is still lacking, so further investigations are needed. Orv Hetil. 2021; 162(41): 1631-1636.PMID:34633983 | DOI:10.1556/650.2021.32346
