Gallbladder metastasis from melanoma

A 56-year-old woman with a past medical history significant for cutaneous melanoma with multiple recurrences treated by surgery and immunotherapy was referred to our unit for cholecystectomy. An abdominal ultrasound performed because of intermittent right upper quadrant pain revealed a gallbladder mass. Abdominal magnetic resonance imaging found a well-defined round mass located into the infundibulum of the gallbladder (Fig. 1, panel A-B). An abdominal PET-scan revealed an isolated hyperfixation on the mass suggesting a metastasis from melanoma.
