Body Mass Index and 1-Year Unplanned Readmission in Chinese Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction: A Retrospective Cohort Study.
Conclusion: BMI has a nonlinear relationship with 1-year unplanned readmission in patients with myocardial infarction. The 1-year unplanned readmission rate of overweight patients (BMI > 29.3 kg/m2) has increased significantly. Obesity paradox does not exist in terms of readmission of Chinese patients with myocardial infarction after PCI. PMID: 32148951 [PubMed]
CONCLUSION: In hypertensive and diabetic patients, higher OPG values were associated with impaired LA function assessed by 2D-STE. In this high-risk patient group, serum OPG can be used as a risk predictor for LA mechanical dysfunction. PMID: 32462219 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Wang Y, Chen F, Wang P, Mana L, Sheng N, Huang S Abstract Shenzhiling oral liquid (SZL) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) compound to be approved by the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) (Z20120010) for the treatment of mild-to-moderate Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, its mechanism in early AD is not clear. We studied its mechanism in protecting myelin. Three-month-old APPswe/PS1dE9double transgenic mice were used as AD model and wild-type C57BL/6 mice were used as control. After 3-month intervention, the Morris water maze was used to detect behavioural changes. Myelin mTOR pathway (PI3K, ...
AbstractThis video shows the case of a 64-year-old morbidly obese woman, with a non-adjustable gastric band, who consulted for weight regain and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) symptoms and was converted to Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB). The operative technique included extensive lysis of adhesions, complete band dissection, partial gastrectomy of the fundus and body due to band erosion and conversion to RYGB.
