A Rat Model of Maternal Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Shows that Exposure to Androgens In Utero Results in Dysbiosis of the Intestinal Microbiota and Metabolic Disorders of the Newborn Rat.
CONCLUSIONS In a rat model of maternal PCOS, exposure to androgens in utero resulted in dysbiosis of the intestinal microbiota and metabolic disorders of the newborn female rats. PMID: 31815927 [PubMed - in process]
Conclusion: This review found no solid evidence that berberine could improve live birth or other clinical outcomes in women with PCOS. However, berberine appeared to be more efficacious for improving insulin resistance and dyslipidemia and decreasing androgen levels and LH/FSH ratio in women with PCOS when compared with metformin. Marcia H. Ratner, Vidhya Kumaresan and David H. Farb* Laboratory of Molecular Neurobiology, Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, Boston University School of Medicine, Boston, MA, United States Memory dysfunction is a symptomatic feature of many neurologic and neuropsychiatric disorders; however, the basic underlying mechanisms of memory and altered states of circuitry function associated with disorders of memory remain a vast unexplored territory. The initial discovery of endogenous neurosteroids triggered a quest to elucidate their role as neuromodulators in normal and diseased brain functio...
Lilly Rocha was 37 years old in 2008 when she began having strange symptoms. When people asked her questions, she knew the answers but couldn’t articulate them. A tingling sensation on her left breast became painful. She thought she might have breast cancer, but her doctor assured her she was just experiencing stress from her demanding job. Her symptoms continued to get worse, and doctors continued to dismiss her. Three months later, at work, she became seriously ill. Luckily, her boss recognized the symptoms—chest and jaw pain and numbness in her left hand—and drove her to the nearest emergency room, whe...
CONCLUSION: Overall, the findings of this trial supported that 50,000 IU vitamin D supplementation every other week for 8 weeks had beneficial effects on insulin metabolism, and lipid profile of infertile women with PCOS who are candidate for IVF. These benefits might not be evident upon having sufficient vitamin D levels. TRIAL REGISTRATION: This study was retrospectively registered in the Iranian website ( www.irct.ir ) for clinical trials registration ( http://www.irct.ir : IRCT20170513033941N27). ConclusionPrenatal exposure to metformin is associated with increased offspring weight, but not with height or BMI. Larger follow-up studies are needed to confirm and look into the implications of these findings.Plain Language SummaryPlain language summary available for this article.
CONCLUSIONS: Primary infertility, T2DM familial history, hypertriglyceridemia, low cholesterol-HDL, older age, waist circumference> 80 cm, and high LH may confer poorer fertility treatment results. PMID: 29944229 [PubMed]

ConclusionsOur study established strong association of multiple early‐pregnancy risk factors with development of GDM in PCOS women. These risk factors are predominantly related to the regulation of glucose, lipid and androgen metabolism. Among these factors, FPG, non‐HDL‐c and SHBG predict incident GDM.
Conclusion(s) Serum vaspin level may be a useful marker for the prediction of ovulation induction success in treatment with clomiphene citrate, and increased vaspin levels (≥3.74ng/mL) are correlated with clomiphene resistance in patients with PCOS according to our study results.
