Gastric food retention at endoscopy is associated with severity of liver cirrhosis.

CONCLUSION: Cirrhotics have a higher frequency of retained food at EGD than non-cirrhotics. Decompensated cirrhosis, defined by Child-Pugh class C, is associated with a higher likelihood of delayed gastric emptying. PMID: 31772719 [PubMed]
