KönigAbstractThere is an increasing economic pressure in sheep production. Hence, it is imperative to use all available tools contributing to improvements in lamb survival. In this regard, there is a lack of studies addressing the impact of maternal body condition traits on lamb performances during lactation. Specifically, the focus of the present study was to analyse associations between ewe traits reflecting maternal energy metabolism and lamb body weight (LB...

Authors: Chaaben Arij B, Nesrine O, Hayet D, Fayza A, Hajer A, Tesnim M, Latifa H, Cathy F, Wahid B, Rajagopal K, Dominique C, Sonia G, Fethi G, Ryad T Abstract The MHC class I chain-related molecule A (MICA) is a ligand for the activating natural killer (NK) cell receptor NKG2D. A part from its genetic diversity, MICA is characterized by the presence of membrane-bound and soluble isoform (sMICA) and by the propensity to elicit antibody-mediated allogeneicity (MICA Abs). Altogether such properties are important in the cancer setting. Here, we investigated whether MICA polymorphism, serum level of sMICA and MICA ant...

Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism, e-First Articles. We are currently facing an “obesity epidemic” worldwide. Promoting inefficient metabolism in muscle represents a potential treatment for obesity and its complications. Sarco(endo)plasmic reticulum (SR) Ca2+-ATPase (SERCA) pumps in muscle are responsible for maintaining low cytosolic Ca2+ concentration through the ATP-depe ndent pumping of Ca2+ from the cytosol into the SR lumen. SERCA activity has the potential to be a critical regulator of body mass and adiposity given that it is estimated to contribute upwards of 20% of daily energy expenditure....

The aim is to explore the role of lncRNA potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily Q member 1 overlapping transcript 1 (KCNQ1OT1) and associated novel mechanisms in the progression and chemoresistance of AML.Main methodsThe expression of KCNQ1OT1, miR-193a-3p, and Tspan3 was measured by qRT-PCR. The values of IC50 for adriamycin (ADR) and the ability of proliferation were an...

We present two cases which are specific for unusual location of Burkitt lymphoma in the colon and stomach, in immunocompetent patients with negative Epstein-Barr virus tests. Also, one of the patients presented is one of the oldest ever reported with abdominal Burkitt lymphoma, while the other patient is an example of diagnostic difficulties in distinguishing Burkitt lymphoma from similar lymphomas. Due to the rapidly growing tumors and urgent need for cytoreductive surgery, it is crucial to consider the diagnosis of Burkitt lymphoma even in atypical localizations or absence of the common risk factors associated with Burki...

Authors: Topolovec Z, Horvat T, Vidosavljević D, Šijanović S, Müller-Vranješ A, Ugljarević M, Milojković D, Topolovec S Abstract The aim of this retrospective study was to present the impact of successful optimal cytoreductive therapy on the overall prognosis of ovarian cancer treatment. Several factors were analyzed, including clinical (stage, age and parity), histopathologic/cytological (histologic type and grade of tumors, cytological findings of ascites or peritoneal washout), and therapeutic (surgery performed with the degree of cytoreduction, adjuvant chemotherapy and response to therap...

This study describes the nutritional status of Qom preschoolers in general, and by neighborhood area and family's socioeconomic characteristics in a peri-urban village of Formosa, Argentina. Across-sectional study was carried out between January and December 2016, with 160 Qom children between 2 and 5 years of age. Interviews and anthropometric measures were conducted at the children's homes. Nutritional status was determined by body mass index. The prevalence of excess weight (overweight + obesity) and of stunting were associated with neighborhood area and socioeconomic level. The overall prevalence of stunting was 15.6% ...

Authors: Singh AK, Singh R Abstract BACKGROUND: Lorcaserin is a novel, selective 5-hydroxytryptamine 2C serotonin receptor agonist, approved for the treatment of obesity. Several phase 3 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) trials have shown a significant reduction in body weight with lorcaserin. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: We systematically searched the database of PubMed, Embase, The Cochrane Library and ClinicalTrials.gov up to July 31, 2019 and retrieved all the studies conducted with lorcaserin for ≥ 1-year that have explicitly reported the efficacy and safety outcomes versus placebo. Subsequently, we s...
