International Spine Intervention Society Call for Grant Proposals on High Priority Topics ISIS is committed to funding research that will address important questions about the effectiveness of interventional spine procedures. The ISIS Research Committee is working to identify important gaps to be addressed in the interventional spine evidence base and encourage research in these areas. To this end, the committee has been working on developing study protocol outlines in areas where more research is likely to be meaningful to our field. The first four priority areas where ISIS would like to see well-designed and executed research studies conducted are addressed in the following research protocol outlines: • Does provocation lumbar discography cause premature disc degeneration or herniation? • Efficacy of repeat TFESIs for radicular pain due to HNP • Cervical medial branch radiofrequency neurotomy for whiplash induced cervical facet joint pain • Prevalence estimate of extra-articular sacroiliac joint pain in chronic low back pain subjects using dual diagnostic lateral sensory branch blocks Investigators interested in carrying out these studies and seeking ISIS grant funding should follow the ISIS procedures for submitting grant proposals, outlined below.
