Endoscopic Assessment of the Malignant Potential of the Nonpolypoid (Flat and Depressed) Colorectal Neoplasms: Thinking Fast, and Slow.

This article provides information on assessment of the malignant potential of colorectal neoplasms. It takes a modern approach on the topic and integrates relevant information that aligns with the thinking process. The theory of thinking fast (reflex) and slow (rational) is used. By doing so, it is hoped that the learning process can be expedited and practiced immediately. The focus is on preresection assessment of nonpolypoid colorectal neoplasms. Assessment of polypoid, sessile-serrated adenoma/polyp, or inflammatory bowel disease dysplasia is briefly discussed. PMID: 31445686 [PubMed - in process]

HemalathaAbstractCancer is a group of diseases characterized by the rapid creation of abnormal cells. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in humans, affecting millions of people per year. Cembranoids are carbocyclic diterpenes composed of 14-membered ring, mainly present in the genera Nicotiana and Pinus in plants, and soft coral and other organisms. Cembranoids are cytotoxic and inhibit phospholipid metabolism. The present study is focus...

In this study, 3D Comparative Molecular Field Analysis (CoMFA) and Comparative Molecular Similarity Indices Analysis (CoMSIA) were employed to construct quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) models of a series of niacinamide analogues as antiandrogens. The obtained models have good reliability and predictivity. In addition, the contour maps from the models can intuitively aid to understand the vital structural characteristics of niacinamides related with the AR antagonistic activities. Our study provides important guidance for the rational design and screening of highly potential active antiandrogens.

CONCLUSION: The results of the Keynote-048 study have already led to the approval of pembrolizumab in the first line for platin-sensitive HNSCC in the USA and the expected approval in Europe will presumably change the therapeutic landscape in the long term. In the future, effective therapies for patients without a response to programmed cell death 1 (PD-1)/PD-L1 inhibition will be needed. PMID: 31612261 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

We report the results from a study evaluating a commercially available artificial pelleted diet for bass and live feed (fathead minnows). Following a six-month diet-acclimation period, age-0 smallmouth bass were assessed using morphometric measures, histologic and immune-function end points using conventional methods, miniaturized cell isolation and assay methods as well as imaging flow cytometry. Fish on the two diets did not significantly differ in length, weight, or condition factor, indicating that growth was similar in the two groups. Histologic examination revealed relatively higher levels of macrophage aggregates an...

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) and multidrug resistance complex (MDR-1 or P-glycoprotein) overexpression are main mechanisms implicated in chemoresistance. Increased aldehyde dehro...

In this study, the levels of radioactivity in the muscle, liver, gonad, and gill tissues of the Whiting fish caught from Rize coast of the Black Sea during the winter season in 2017 were determined using gamma spectrometry. Data obtained from the fish showed that the mean activity concentrations in all tissues for males were found to be 4.57 Bq kg−1 for 226Ra, 2.79 Bq kg−1 for 232Th, 308.46 Bq kg−1 for 40K, and 3.38 Bq kg−1 for 137Cs, respectively. The mean activity concentrations in all tissues for females were found to be 2.56 Bq kg−1 for 226Ra, 2.28 Bq kg−1 for 232Th, 277.90 Bq kg&min...

AbdelrahmanABSTRACTNewly established green TLC-densitometric and RP-HPLC methods were developed and validated for simultaneous determination of quetiapine (QUT) (an antipsychotic drug) and the co-administrated drug, paroxetine (PAR) (an antidepressant drug). Both drugs are widely prescribed for treatment of bipolar depression. The proposed TLC-densitometric method was based on separation of the studied components and the internal standard (vincamine (VINC)) ...
