Rowell ’s syndrome: A diagnostic challenge

Case Presentation: A 35-year-old African American female with PMH of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) (on hydroxychloroquine 200mg BID, mycophenolate mofetil 500mg BID and prednisone 20mg daily) and herpes simplex virus (HSV) presented for a progressive, pruritic, diffuse rash with oral and vaginal erosions. She was evaluated 4 days prior for similar symptoms and treated with 150mg fluconazole, 500mg penicillin VK and 400mg acyclovir. She denied NSAID or antibiotic use, or other medications aside from those listed, prior to start of this episode.
