KRAS missense mutation effects on the 18F-FDG uptake of colorectal adenocarcinoma metastases in the liver

Conclusions: Correlation between 18F-FDG SUVpeak and SULpeak in liver metastases from colorectal adenocarcinoma and KRAS missense mutation status is seen in a cohort of 23 patients who underwent PET/CT guided biopsies. Applying PVE corrections was critical for obtaining borderline statistical significance of this correlation. The accuracy of these findings may be improved if the study is focused only on cases for which a molecular pathology report is available for each analyzed lesion. Therefore, accumulating a larger cohort of such cases as well as including more markers may allow better separation of MetCRC liver lesions which are positive for KRAS missense mutation.
