REVIVE-IT study to examine earlier device use for patients with heart failure

(University of Michigan Health System) Left ventricular assist devices are usually only available as a last resort for patients with congestive heart failure, but a new study will examine the benefits of using heart devices before patients reach late-stage heart failure. Researchers at the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center and University of Pittsburgh will evaluate whether technology now reserved for very sick patients is ready for use for a broader group of patients in need.
