(402) Using Artificial Intelligence to Capture Behavioral and Endpoint Data in a Phase III Diabetic Neuropathic Pain Study

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 50 percent of the 30 million Americans with diabetes suffer from diabetic neuropathy, which results in numbness and tingling in one's limbs. As the disease progresses, 50 percent of the diabetic neuropathy patients develop neuropathic pain as a result of damage to the peripheral nerves which can produce debilitating limb pain. Despite an improved understanding of the molecular mechanisms of nociception, most clinical trials still use self-reported measures of pain as their primary efficacy endpoint.
