ConclusionsAlthough semi-solid nutrients have several advantages, including reduced diarrhea and gastroesophageal reflux, evidence on semi-solid nutrients via the nasogastric tube is insufficient. It should be noted that semi-solid nutrient reflux can be more fatal than liquid nutrients.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a severe progressive muscular dystrophy caused by mutations in the DMD gene, leading to the absence of a functional dystrophin protein. During disease progression patients develop respiratory decline, which leads to the need for ventilation, either non-invasive or invasive, in their late teens or early twenties.
