A Healthy Woman with Sudden Memory Loss

A 50-year-old healthy Japanese woman experienced acute-onset memory loss and difficulty remembering certain past events while working. She was alert and aware of her identity, but repeatedly asked her whereabouts. She had no history of memory impairment or altered consciousness, and no personal or family history of neurologic disturbances (e.g., dementia, stroke, migraine, and epilepsy) or major cardiovascular problems. Physical and neurologic examination findings, electrolyte and glucose levels, electroencephalographic examination findings, and toxicology test results were normal.
