Case report: Evolocumab in association with lipoprotein apheresis improves lipid profile in a 49-years old woman with familial hypercholesterolemia and statin intolerance

A 49-years old woman, affected by HeFH, (mutation on LDLR gene: c.1646G>A exon 11; p.Gly528 Asp – aminoacid change) and statin intolerance characterized by myositis and rhabdomyolysis (in 2010 after initiation of atorvastatin), was admitted to the outpatient Lipid Clinic of Verona. She was also affected by Cogan's Syndrome and ostheoporosis. Hypercholesterolemia was diagnosed in her adolesce nce, and, in the absence of specific lipid lowering therapy, the plasma lipid levels were: total cholesterol=522 mg/dL, LDL-C=434 mg/dL, HDL-C=84 mg/dL, triglycerides=120 mg/dL, Lp(a)=11 mg/dL.
