Six years experience of medical thoracoscopy at Al Hussein University Hospital

Conclusion Medical thoracoscopy is an easy procedure and an excellent diagnostic procedure for pleural effusion of uncertain etiology. It has low complication rate even in settings where the procedure is just started. It should be included in the armamentarium of procedures for management of pleural effusion.

Conclusions: WISC-III evaluated the cognitive performance in children, born preterm, aged 6-8 years old, and had neonatal ICH did not differ from those of their peers without a history of ICH. These findings suggest that, in preterm infants, a neonatal diagnosis of ICH may not be associated with cognitive performance at school age and this should be investigated through a longitudinal study.Resumo Objetivos: comparar o desempenho cognitivo de escolares, nascidos prematuramente, segundo a presen ça de hemorragia intracraniana (HIC) no período neonatal. Métodos: corte transversal de uma coorte de escolar...

To ensure a covalent integration between PP surface and functional UV-curable coatings, 3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl acrylate (TMSPA) was functionalized on the surface of oxidized PP film. Two distinct UV-curable coatings differing ...

However, its main drawback is rapid catalytic deactivation by heavy hydrocarbons confined inside the cages. Here, we report a facile synthetic strategy for submi...

Pd is a robust catalytic material for this reaction and is considered as an alternative to Pt due to its similarity with Pt. However, since Pd is oxidized at a lower positive potential than Pt, it is less active and less stable than Pt in an oxygen reduction reaction. We developed a s...

We report the fabrication of bimetallic NiCo2Se4 and CoNi2Se4 nanostructures on nickel-foam (Ni-foam) substrates via a potentiostatic-deposition method by adjusting the molar ratio of Ni and Co metals. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analyses show that burl-like clusters with characteristic fluffy NiCo2Se4 and flake-like CoNi2Se4 hierarchical structures were deposited on the Ni-foam substrates. When used as battery-type electrodes in supercapacitors, both NiCo2Se4 and CoNi2Se4 electrodes exhibited outstanding capacity and good electrochemical properties. The CoNi2Se4 electrode ...

The aging behaviour of HPT-processed samples was systematically studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, high resolution high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy (HAADF-STEM) and hardness testing. We found that the optimal aging ...

CONCLUSIONS The findings from this study showed that the identifiable prognostic factors in patients with CCS were stage and tumor size. Local stage and tumor size ≤3 cm were favorable prognostic factors for patient survival in CCS. PMID: 31522190 [PubMed - in process]

Authors: Kunitoki K, Mutoh T, Tatewaki Y, Takano Y, Yamamoto S, Shimomura H, Nakagawa M, Arai H, Taki Y Abstract BACKGROUND Osteoporosis is a major global public health problem in the current aging era. Osteoporosis is often diagnosed only after patients have a fracture that causes a severe decline in ability to perform activities of daily life. Although the current criterion standard for diagnosing osteoporosis is dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), this modality remains less prevalent among general practitioners in geriatric medicine. The aim of this study was to determine the diagnostic utility of visual ins...
