The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Quality and Safety Journey: A Long and Winding Road

NCI ’ s Center for Cancer Research (CCR) Grand Rounds Dr. Craig Bunnell received his MD from Harvard Medical School and his MPH from Harvard School of Public Health in 1990. He received his MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2008. He completed his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, where he also served as chief medical resident. He joined Dana-Farber in 1996, and is a member of the Breast Oncology Center in the Susan F. Smith Center for Women's Cancers. Dr. Bunnell was named Dana-Farber's Chief Medical Officer in 2012. Dr. Anne Gross ’ s career as a nurse leader spans two decades focusing on clinical practice innovation, improvement and patient safety. Her work has been a balance of clinical operations leadership and clinical nursing practice leadership with more concentrated focus in recent years on the latter. Overseeing and advancing the practice of nursing in a variety of clinical settings locally, nationally and internationally has resulted in interventions to improve the quality of life for patients, families and nurses who care for them. Her research focus is on quality of life issues in patients with ovarian cancer. She lectures annually at Boston College and University of Massachusetts, Boston on health policy issues in oncology and the role of the oncology nurse in a multidisciplinary team.
