Vesicoileal fistula and Clostridium difficile colitis in a child with acute lymphoblastic leukemia

We report a rare case of a child with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and vesicoileal fistula. The patient presented 3 weeks after finishing chemotherapy with urinary tract infection symptoms, fecaluria, and hyperchloremic metabolic acidosis. The patient was found to have Clostridium difficile colitis and a vesicoileal fistula with no leukemic infiltration of the involved intestines or the urinary bladder. Although multiple types of fistulas are reported in immunocompromised patients, no such case has been reported in published literature.
