Call for Proposals: American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation 2014 New Century Scholars Research Grant Deadline for receipt of proposals: May 1, 2014 The American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASHFoundation) invites investigators to submit proposals in competition for up to ten research grants of $10,000 each. The New Century Scholars Research Grant competition is designed to advance the knowledge base in communication sciences and disorders. Proposal type or content area are not restricted, but priority will be given to studies that are innovative, groundbreaking, or that can meet research needs not yet addressed. The intent of this grant competition is to initiate new research in the field, and funding can be applied to a one or two-year investigation. The ASHFoundation is able to offer this special competition as a result of its Dreams and Possibilities Campaign initiative. This campaign raised over $2 million to support doctoral education and research in the field of communication sciences and disorders. This program supports investigations by individuals who are committed to teacher-investigator careers in the university/college academic environment or in external research institutes or laboratories. Research grants are intended to support new research ideas and directions for investigators who are not currently funded in the proposed area of investigation.
