Histidine‐rich glycoprotein promotes macrophage activation and inflammation in chronic liver disease

In conclusion, liver‐derived HRG, similar to alarmins, appears to be an endogenous molecular factor promoting the polarization of hepatic macrophages towards the M1 phenotype, thereby endorsing chronic liver injury and fibrosis progression, but limiting angiogenesis. Controlling tissue levels of HRG or PGF might therefore be a promising strategy in chronic inflammatory liver diseases. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
