The impact of short-term blood pressure variability on dementia in Parkinson ’s disease in relation to the renin-angiotensin system
Background: Cardiovascular dysautonomy and dementia are common non-motor features of Parkinson ’s disease (PD). Apart from orthostatic hypotension, supine hypertension (SH) and abnormal nocturnal blood pressure profile, also short-term blood pressure variability (BPV) may play a role in the pathogenesis of dementia. Role of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) in this process remains unclear.
