Palliating Undifferentiated Encephalopathy in Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease vs. Autoimmune Encephalitis

1. Utilizing a case based approach, learners will be able to describe the pathophysiology of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) and autoimmune encephalitis (AE) that predicts the challenges of managing delirium and agitation.2. Learners will be able to recognize the nuances of undifferentiated encephalopathy in order to mitigate potential harms of an indiscriminate approach to neurocognitive palliation with potent dopaminergic antagonists and consider a more sophisticated approach with second generation antipsychotics possessing less dopaminergic antagonism.
