A Model for Mouse Ex Vivo Lung Perfusion (EVLP) Followed by Orthotopic Lung Transplantation
Purpose: Ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) is a promising method to expand the pool of transplantable lungs and precondition grafts before lung transplantation (LTx). We previously showed that functional regulatory T cells could be delivered to rat and human lungs during EVLP. Further research in this area is hampered by the lack of a suitable mouse EVLP-to-LTx model, which would allow the application of genetic tools to study this approach. Here, we developed a mouse EVLP-to-LTx model for investigating the delivery of Tregs and other immunomodulatory therapeutics to donor lungs prior to LTx.
