Persistent Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Bacteremia in a Patient With Multiple Cardiovascular Disease Risk Factors

We present a case report of a 75-year-old man with multiple cardiovascular disease risk factors and a past surgical history of bioprosthetic aortic valve replacement who presented to the emergency department with a 3-day history of weakness, chills, and chest pain. His electrocardiogram showed sinus tachycardia with first-degree AV block, and his laboratory workup revealed methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia. This case highlights a cardiovascular condition associated with community-acquired infection that carries a high morbidity and mortality.
