Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology as a New Subspecialty in Latin America: Challenges and Opportunities Based on a Brazilian Survey Study
Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology (AHFTC) subspecialty is well established in Europe and in the United States within the cardiology practice (1,2). In Brazil, there is no formal certification of the HF subspecialty, and structured AHFTC training programs are relatively new, despite its existence for over 20 years as a dynamic and proactive HF department as part of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology (SBC) (3). As such, compared to other countries, Brazil is at a much earlier stage in the development of the HF subspecialty.
