Incidence and risk of stroke in Korean patients with congenital heart disease
Congenital heart disease (CHD) affects in approximately 1% of newborns. Advances in surgical and medical treatments have enabled>90% of children with CHD to survive to adolescence or adulthood 1,2. As the number of patients who survive CHD increases, growing attention is being paid to lifestyle-related comorbidities and acquired cardiovascular and systemic complications, including diabetes mellitus (DM), hypertension (HTN), metabolic syndrome, coronary artery disease, and stroke 3-10.
