Gender Difference in the Effects of Chronic Diseases on Daily Physical Activity Patterns in Older Adults: Analysis of Objectively Measured Physical Activity in NHATS 2021

CONCLUSIONS: Our analysis demonstrates that although for most diseases, irrespective of gender, the daily PA patterns of individuals with the disease are negatively altered compared to individuals without the disease, the magnitude of the decline in PA is often significantly different between women and men, depending on the time of day. Hence designing personalized physical activity interventions that take both gender and diurnal pattern of PA into account can potentially improve quality of life for patients across both genders.PMID:37625499 | DOI:10.1016/j.annepidem.2023.08.004
