Blunted neural reward response to alcohol and greater alcohol motivation in binge drinkers in a randomized clinical experiment

CONCLUSIONS: The findings suggest that alcohol-related OFC tolerance plays a significant role in sustained alcohol motivation, and that both specific alcohol-related neural reward tolerance and pre-motor sensitization responses may contribute to escalating alcohol motivation to drive excessive alcohol intake, even prior to development of alcohol use disorders.PMID:37070596 | DOI:10.1111/acer.15082
