Sudan: SitRep - Scale-Up of Cholera Response in Khartoum
[Radio Dabanga] Khartoum -Sudan's federal Ministry of Health and the World Health Organisation (WHO) are working with partners and at-risk communities to scale up surveillance of cholera in Khartoum. On November 7, the final phase of the five-year yellow fever vaccination campaign targeting more than 30 million people across Sudan was launched. Beaverton vaccine developer nabs $3M grant to start clinical trial
Beaverton-based Najit Technologies Inc. received a $3.1 million grant to test a yellow fever vaccine in humans for the first time.
The award from the National Institutes of Health will allow the OHSU spinout to get its HydroVax platform in a phase 1 clinical trial to study how participants’ immune systems respond.
The current yellow fever vaccine has been used since the 1930s. While it works for the majority of people who take it, infants and the elderly can become ill from the vaccine.

On 16 July 2019, the Ebonyi State Ministry of Health received information about suspected yellow fever cases in Ndingele ward, Izzi Local Government Area (LGA), Nigeria. The cases had symptoms of fever and jaundice, reported with onset since May 2019. As of 30 August 2019, a total of 84 suspected yellow fever cases, including 26 deaths (case fatality ratio: 31 %), have been reported across nine LGAs within Ebonyi State. Of the suspected yellow fever cases, fifty-five per cent (46/84) are male. Pinterest Searches About Vaccines Will Bring Up Content From Public Health Organizations
(CNN) — Pinterest searches for “measles”, “vaccine safety” and other vaccine-related content will only return results from public health organizations, the social media company announced Wednesday.
Last year, Pinterest stopped showing search results related to vaccines in order to the prevent the spread of harmful health misinformation.
Searching Pinterest now only shows results from institutions such as the World Health Organization, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the WHO-established Vaccine Safety Net.
