Extended high-frequency audiometry: hearing thresholds in adults
ConclusionOur results can help improve the knowledge of EHF hearing thresholds for individual sexes and age groups. So far, the standard 7029:2017 is not binding and, moreover, it only reaches up to the frequency of 12.5  kHz. EHFA is a highly sensitive method for the evaluation of hearing loss depending on age and sex. (Source: European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology)

The association of auditory function measures with low-level methylmercury from oceanic fish consumption and mercury vapor from amalgam: The Seychelles Child Development Study Nutrition 1 Cohort
CONCLUSION: Overall, these data do not present a clear and consistent pattern to suggest that the auditory system is negatively affected by low-level methylmercury exposure due to dietary consumption of oceanic fish or mercury vapor exposure from dental amalgams.PMID:36621469 | DOI:10.1016/j.neuro.2022.12.010 (Source: Neurotoxicology)

Balloon Dilation of the Eustachian Tube: A Randomized Controlled Trial with 6 Months Follow-Up
CONCLUSION: The procedure is feasible and no complications were reported. The study indicates that balloon dilation of the Eustachian tube may be a beneficial treatment in a selected group of adult patients with mild chronic Eustachian tube dysfunction.PMID:36349672 | DOI:10.5152/iao.2022.21198 (Source: Adv Data)

Sound energy absorbance changes in the elderly with presbycusis with normal outer and middle ear
Conclusionit was determined that there was a decrease in RF and absorbances at 2000 and 4000  Hz in the elderly with presbycusis. Aging affects not only the inner ear but also the conduction mechanism of the middle ear. Our findings may be effective in a more accurate and reliable interpretation of WBT in the elderly with presbycusis. (Source: European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology)

Investigation of cochlear microphonics recorded with different stimulus types
This study had executed at Başkent University, Faculty of Health Sciences Audiology laboratory. The study group consisted of 42 volunteers between 18 and 40 years old. To understand the suitability of volunteers, pure tone audiometry, tympanometry, and transient otoacoustic emission tests were performed. Individuals with no hearing loss were tested with 100 dBnHL intensity level via click and LS CE-Chirp stimulus. The obtained values were statistically evaluated in the SPSS 23.0 program in accordance with the data distribution. An independent sample t-test was used for data showing normal distribution, and Mann-Whitney U ...
