Lifestyle and personal factors associated with having macroscopic residual disease after ovarian cancer primary cytoreductive surgery
CONCLUSIONS: The association between ET and having no macroscopic residual disease is plausible given a strong underlying biologic hypothesis between this exposure and diagnosis with HGSC. If this or the parity finding is replicated, these factors could be included in risk stratification models to determine whether HGSC patients should receive PCS or neoadjuvant chemotherapy.PMID:36401943 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2022.10.018 (Source: Gynecologic Oncology)

8189 “Failed CS-BS” a Role for vNOTES in Patient with 4 Prior Cesarean Sections and Severe Adhesive Disease Desiring Sterilization
To demonstrate the utility of vNOTES for opportunistic bilateral salpingectomy for permanent sterilization after failed attempt at bilateral tubal ligation at the time of previous Cesarean section. (Source: The Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology)

Robotic Assisted Tubal Reanastomosis
Indications for tubal reanastomosis include reversal of sterilization, midtubal block secondary to pathology, tubal occlusion from ectopic pregnancy, and salpingitis isthmica nodosa. The goal is to remove abnormal tissue and reapproximate the healthy tubal segments with as little adhesion formation as possible. (Source: The Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology)

Use of n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate for fallopian tube embolization via selective catheterization in a rabbit model: Feasibility study for potential non-surgical sterilization.
The purpose of this study was to determine whether fallopian tube embolization with n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA) administered via a microcatheter in a rabbit model was technically feasible and resulted in short-term tubal occlusion. The current and future state of surgery in reproductive endocrinology
Purpose of review The last decade has witnessed a radical change in the field of reproductive surgery. The increasing success of in-vitro fertilization (IVF) has caused a huge shift in emphasis with many downstream consequences. This review outlines the changes and provides insight into the future of reproductive surgery. Recent findings With compelling evidence that IVF overcomes the detrimental effects of endometriosis on infertility and with two new oral medications available for management of endometriosis, momentum is shifting towards nonsurgical management of endometriosis. There is increasing recognition ...

Female sterilization reversal in the era of in-vitro fertilization
Purpose of review Regret after female sterilization is not uncommon in the United States. Prior to the development of assisted reproductive technology (ART), surgical reversal of sterilization was the only option for patients interested in fertility. First performed in 1972, this procedure has since been refined over the years by gynaecologic surgeons. With in-vitro fertilization (IVF) gaining popularity, interest in sterilization reversal has waned. However, sterilization reversal should remain an important option in patients seeking pregnancy after tubal ligation. Recent findings A direct comparison between IV...

Fellowship Training and Surgeon Volume in the Next Era of Gynecologic Surgery
We have entered a unique era of benign gynecologic surgery marked by vast advances in surgical technology, instrumentation, route, and technique. With these developments come an emphasis on reducing surgical morbidity for all procedures from tubal ligation to hysterectomy. Not surprisingly, complications increase with procedural complexity. Ureteral injuries, while a recognized risk at hysterectomy impacts patients ’ quality of life and satisfaction, health system quality measures, healthcare costs, and surgeons’ and trainees’ careers.
