Preoperative pelvic pain syndromes are a risk factor for failure in patients undergoing radiofrequency endometrial ablation
Endometrial ablation is a widely used procedure for treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding in premenopausal patients. It is less invasive than hysterectomy, has high patient satisfaction rates (92%), and an excellent safety profile. Published rates of treatment failure range from 23-36%, with increased failure noted in age less than 40, history of cesarean section, abnormal imaging prior to procedure (fibroid, polyp, thickened endometrial stripe), history of tubal ligation, and irregular bleeding profile. Tubal Sterilization and Cervical Cancer Underscreening in the United States
Conclusions: Approximately 4.3 million women ages 22-49 in the United States are potentially underscreened for cervical cancer and women with previous tubal ligation ≥5 years ago are more likely to be underscreened. These results may inform the need for culturally sensitive public health messages informing people who have had these procedures about the need for continued screening.PMID:38502830 | DOI:10.1089/jwh.2023.0610 (Source: Cancer Control)

Isolated fallopian tube torsion: A systematic review of case reports
CONCLUSIONS: Isolated fallopian tube torsion is a rare but important gynaecological emergency with significant fertility implications. This study summarizes the most common presentations, investigation findings and surgical interventions in patients with isolated fallopian tube torsion. This study also emphasizes the importance of clinicians maintaining a high degree of suspicion and low threshold for early laparoscopic intervention to retain fertility.PMID:38432020 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejogrb.2024.02.050 (Source: Reproductive Biology)

Microsurgical anastomosis of the fallopian tubes after tubal ligation: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Therefore, the available literature review demonstrates that surgical anastomosis following tubal ligation is a reproducible technique with relevant success rates, performed by multiple expert groups worldwide.PMID:38353086 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejogrb.2023.10.017 (Source: Reproductive Biology)

Proximal tubal occlusion first or oocyte retrieval first for patients with hydrosalpinx?
ConclusionsFor the choice of ligation operation time, we recommend that patients choose tubal ligation first and then ovulation induction and oocyte retrieval treatment. (Source: Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics)

Regret in the modern contraceptive landscape: Evaluating regret in patients undergoing tubal ligation or bilateral salpingectomy for contraception
CONCLUSION: We found that the prevalence of regret following tubal sterilization has not changed with the widespread availability of highly effective reversible contraceptive methods. However, most patients choosing permanent contraception will be satisfied with their decision. Shared decision making should respect the autonomy of each patient to make their own decisions regarding the most acceptable family planning method for their circumstances.PMID:38272216 | DOI:10.1016/j.jogc.2024.102362 (Source: Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Canada : JOGC)

Isolated bilateral tinnitus after spinal anesthesia: A case report
Agri. 2024 Jan;36(1):68-70. doi: 10.14744/agri.2021.74317.ABSTRACTRarely, endolymphatic hydrops may occur after spinal anesthesia due to the perforation of the dural membrane and a decrease in cerebrospinal fluid pressure. Consequently, auditory complications such as tinnitus and hearing loss may arise. Tinnitus can be accompanied by headache and hearing loss. In this case report, isolated bilateral tinnitus, which occurred in the early intraoperative period and spontaneously regressed in a patient who underwent bilateral tubal ligation under spinal anesthesia, is presented.PMID:38239117 | DOI:10.14744/agri.2021.74317 (Source: Agri Dergisi)
