How long after non complicated vaginal birth is it safe to perform an open tubal ligation?
I currently work in a high volumen OB/GYN hospital. Today OB filed a complaint against one of our attendings because he will only do a tubal ligation 6 hours after birth. I usually have them wait 30 min after birth just to make sure there’s no bleeding or any funny bussiness (this is a teaching hospital After all). I took a deep on this topic but I didn’t find anything conclusive, what’s you take on this? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Procedure-heavy residency programs
I am currently applying to FM resodencies and am looking for those that offer lots of experience in procedures. I want enough numbers to get hospital privileges. I'm interested in doing many vasectomies, colposcopies, tubal ligation (if possible), sports medicine procedures, and anything else I can gain competence in (any surgical procedure would be amazing). Also lots of derm would be great. What programs should I look at? Willing to apply to any state/location. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

They want me to be an RN
Greetings, I AM CONFUSED AND STARTING TO GET DEPRESSED... I am a secretary at a hospital in Atlanta. I've been working here for 2.5yrs now. My goal is to become an OBGYN I am very passionate about women's health. I don't see myself doing anything else for the rest of my life. I was able to shadow an M.D for a day and I witnessed a c-section with tubal ligation. That was the day that REALLY solidified my dream. Here is my dilemma, I'm 21 and I'm not getting any younger. I don't have a... They want me to be an RN (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Choosing where to apply
I'm considering apply to FM. There's a few factors that influence my decision and I'd really appreciate any input you all can offer. I mostly want to do FM in order to be able to do procedures. Ideally, I'd be able to do colposcopy and LEEP, tubal ligation, any type of OR procedures, vasectomies, etc. I think in order to do any procedure or have hospital privileges I need to have a certain number of said procedures under my belt during my time in residency. How do I choose a residency... Choosing where to apply (Source: Student Doctor Network)

elective tubal ligation 4 weeks? 6 weeks?
Just wondering what the "general consensus" here for "elective after the patient already goes home" time period for elective tubal ligation. I canceled an elective tubal ligation on a patient 3 weeks post partum. I have always thought the general consensus was to wait roughly 6 weeks. Thought 3 weeks post partum was a little too soon for elective procedure (usual excuse for body to return to normal physiology state from pregnancy). I know there is push from the "experts" in this... elective tubal ligation 4 weeks? 6 weeks? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

A WTF ethics question in Kaplan Qbook
A woman gave birth to her 5th kid. She wants a tubal ligation. The physician should: a. maintain strict confidentiality and not disclose the patient's wishes to her husband b. discuss the benefits and risks of the procedure with both the patient and her husband I chose a. The right answer was b. WTF? The right answer was that BOTH SPOUSES need to consent to a sterilization procedure and this is somehow right because I was supposed to bring it up with the husband since this would impact...
